Fr Michael Cox O. Carm. Welcomes Members to Aylesford Priory & Shrine for Summer Retreat

PositiveFaith members were warmly welcomed to Aylesford Priory this summer for a reflective weekend retreat led by Fr John Friel CP, a Passionist priest from Ireland.

Set in the heart of Kent, Aylesford is a Carmelite Priory and Shrine with a remarkable history dating back to the 13th century. It remains an active centre of pilgrimage, prayer, and community, where visitors are invited to experience silence, beauty, and spiritual renewal.

Fr Michael shared the story of the Carmelite order’s return to Aylesford in 1949 and guided the group through the historic cloisters and chapels, explaining how the site continues to serve as a place of peace and encounter with God. The weekend offered time for prayer, group reflection, and connection, affirming the importance of faith and fellowship in the journey of living with HIV.
