A Good News story for Porticus: Empowering People Living with HIV
Making Faith-sense of HIV
PORTICUS VALUE: A fairer society in which marginalised and vulnerable people are fully included
All that we do is informed by our Faith. Our trustees and members (a.k.a. service-users) regularly engage in processes of theological reflection and discernment. Our approach to bring about change in society and in the Church begins from a place of solidarity with People living with HIV (PLWH). Reflection upon experience in the light of our faith enables us to identify the challenges that we need to address together. Adult faith-formation motivates our members in their roles of leadership and service for others.
As a community of PLWH with a shared faith we are especially proud of the ways in which PLWH are empowered to respond to the pastoral needs of PLWH in the UK and Ireland.
Our commitment to the meaningful involvement of PLWH is reflected in the make-up of our Trustee Board. When many charities struggle to find trustees our success in motivating PLWH to serve is a testament to the ways in which our shared faith inspires and sustains us.

The Diversity of our Board is an organisational strength, ensuring that the most marginalised and vulnerable people are fully included in all that we do. Twelve of CAPS current board members are migrants, of whom nine are asylum seekers or PLWH who have been granted refugee status.
